“It was unfortunate. That was essentially an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the signal was entirely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the incorrect digit,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
